Cognac & Brandy
Cognac is a French spirit produced from grapes. Cognac is made only in the area around the French town of Cognac. This area is divided into six areas; Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, Fins Bois, Bons Bois, and Bois Ordinaires. The areas are also ranked by quality with Grande Champagne being the best, most exclusive area in Cognac. The regulations for Cognac require that in the cognac production phase, 90% of the mixture must consist of the grapes Ugni Blanc, Folle Blance or Colombard. Cognac can be enjoyed after a meal, as an avec or in a premium cocktail. Brandy is a liquor based on grapes and is made in most countries that make wine. No specific grape is used. Brandy can also be used in the same way as cognac.
