Tax Free Norway and tax-free account for the largest single contribution to Avinor and Norwegian airports

Avinor has primarily two sources of revenue: Fees from the airlines that use Avinor's services and commercial activities at the airports. The commercial income has become an increasingly important source of income, where the income from TRN is the largest single contribution. For forty years, until 2004, SAS Trading was responsible for the sale of duty-free goods at Norwegian airports. In 2004, a tender competition was announced. Five bidders signed up. Avinor chose to enter into negotiations with Tax Free Norway because the company delivered the best financial result and a concept Avinor thought was attractive to Norwegian passengers. Following a contract renewal in 2021, TRN will conduct tax-free sales until a new tender competition in 2027.
