Everything you need to know about perfume
Perfume is a blend of essential oils and aromatic scents. It is a work of art we use to express who we are, to seduce and feel attractive. Perfume plays a bigger role in our days than we think and it can be connected to both memories and emotions.

Many people treasure their favourite perfume, but today it is also common to have several at home and you can choose the scent according to your mood, season and occasion. Clean, fresh scents in spring and summer and more intense, sensual and spicy in autumn and winter.
Let the scent develop
Having trouble finding the right perfume? Maybe you've tried a perfume that smelled good at first but then changed and wasn't so good after all? Perfume consists of three layers and is often described with top notes, heart notes and base notes. Here's something to think about when you're looking for a new scent:
- Top notes are the first thing you notice and are the very introduction to the perfume. This is where you often find the light and fresh notes in the perfume.
- The heart notes come a few minutes after you spray it on your skin and this is what determines the character of the fragrance. The heart notes are often warmer and rounder than the top notes. Let the perfume sit for a while and develop so that the heart notes come out more before you decide.
- Last but not least, the base note arrives. This is the note that stays on the skin. Base notes take even more time to develop, so give the perfume time on your skin.
And it's important to remember that perfume smells different from person to person. A perfume may smell great on you and completely different on your friend. It's therefore important to try perfume on yourself first. This simply comes from the different pH value and chemistry we have in our skin.
Do you know the difference between Eau de Toilette and Eau de Parfum?
In an Eau de Toilette, the top notes dominate, which are the light and fresh scents, but it quickly transitions to the heart notes. Eau de Toilette is perfect for spring and summer and for those who want a more refreshing scent.
Eau de Parfum has a stronger scent and contains 8-16% pure essence and lasts longer. Eau de Parfum is warmer and rounder than Eau de Toilette and is perfect for nights out or if you just want a more intense scent.
Apply the fragrance to pulse points so that it lasts longer. But don't make the classic mistake of spraying on your wrist and then rubbing your wrists together. This will prevent the fragrance from settling or developing. Spray from about 15 cm away and let it settle. 1-2 sprays will do. With Eau de Toilette you can treat yourself to a few extra sprays.
How to store perfume
Here I think we have all made the mistake of storing our fragrances in the bathroom. Even though it looks nice on a bathroom shelf, the heat in the bathroom can cause the perfume to discolor and change its scent. It is best to keep them in the bedroom where it is usually a little cooler than room temperature. Even better if you store the perfume in its box for extra protection, then it will last longer. And remember to keep the cap on so that you avoid oxidation.
