Bergens Aquavit 1818

Golden colour. Medium intense aromas of caraway, anise, citrus and oak. Medium-bodied and medium intense aquavit with warming alcohol and long finish. Serve neat and at room temperature with foods like Norwegian traditional dishes and Christmas dishes, or in cocktails like Complement Cocktail, Swedish 60 and Fjellbekk. Written sources proves that the history of aquavit can at least be traced back to 1531 and the Norwegian city Bergen. However, as the years passed on, less and less distilleries were found in Norway. Only six distillers could for instance be found at Bergen in 1818. One of them was H. R. Martens Brenneri, the source of the old recipe this aquavit is based one. Hence its name; Bergens Aquavit 1818.
