How-to: Bronzing powder
Bronzing powder is a must-have in your makeup bag. It gives your skin a nice sun-kissed glow, but how should you apply it to get that perfect glow? Get the tips here.

Choose the right shade for your skin tone
A good bronzer can give you a great glow, but if you choose the wrong one you can end up looking grey and even a bit dirty. It is therefore important to choose a tone that suits your skin. The lighter your skin, the easier it is for the bronzer to look dirty, especially if you choose a colour that is too dark. Therefore, choose a bronzer that is only two shades darker than your skin tone. If your undertone is golden, you will tolerate a more densely pigmented colour, such as terracotta colours often are. If you use this on very fair skin with a pink undertone, the result may be too orange. Honey shades are great for fair skin. The Terracotta Bronzing Powder from Guerlain is a series of different types of bronzers that have a good selection of shades and finishes. Here you will definitely find one that suits your skin tone.
The sun-kissed glow
It is tempting to use the bronzer all over your face to get a nice tan, but it often results in a flat and dull look. It is not a regular powder or foundation that evens out your skin tone. The bronzer works best on the perimeter of the face so that you frame and create a light contour. Also think about what finish you want for the bronzer, there are both shimmer and matte versions. Shimmer is often easier to apply without it becoming patchy. To get a more even colour, it can be smart to use a foundation or a light powder before applying the bronzer. This is because the bronzer sticks more to oily areas and the result can be patchy if the surface is not even.
If you have any unevenness that you want to cover, you should do that first. Always use a medium to large brush when applying the bronzer. This gives you better control and a smoother look. You should apply the bronzer in light circular motions and make sure to soften any transitions. Start applying along the hairline and draw a "three" from the forehead and temple to under the cheekbone before finishing under the jawbone. Use a small amount of product on the brush and apply several times, as this will give you more control over the result. It is easier to apply more than to have to remove it again. Excess product on the brush can be used on the neck to achieve smooth transitions.
Think about the light when applying your makeup; the more daylight the better the result. Bathroom light is not the same as daylight and can make you apply too much. It's easy to get excited when applying because you get a nice sun-kissed skin. If you by mistake apply too much, take a large powder brush, dip it in a bit of loose transparent powder before applying this in small circular movements over the skin to even out the color. Finish with a nice pink blush to get a natural look.
