Yves Saint Laurent and his partner, Pierre Bergé, founded the YSL brand in 1961. At that time, YSL was innovative and passionate. With their androgynous ‘Le Smoking’ a men-inspired suit, tailored for women, they focused on women who wanted to appear as parts glamorous and strong. They mixed art and fashion, and worked for diversity in the fashion industry. Today, Yves Saint Laurent is a leader in exclusive clothing, perfume, hair care products, make-up, accessories and not least haute couture. YSL constantly adheres to its ideology of making progress in the brand by having a genuine belief in beauty, rather than being better than its competitors. YSL's Touch Eclat is today one of the world's best-selling concealers, even though it is actually a highlighter.
